Instructions
Prepare the Oven and Pan
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
Mix the Batter
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and baking soda.
Add eggs, Del Monte fruit cocktail (with syrup), and vegetable oil.
Mix all ingredients well until you have a smooth batter.
Bake the Cake
Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan.
Sprinkle brown sugar evenly over the top of the batter.
If using, add chopped nuts on top of the brown sugar.
Bake for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Finish and Serve
Allow the fruit cocktail cake to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes.
Cut into squares and serve warm or at room temperature.
