Ingredients
  

Cake:

  • 2 tbsp sugar 27g
  • 4 tbsp milk 60g
  • ½ tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 ½ tbsp vegetable oil 20g
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • A few drops of gel red food color
  • 4 tbsp all-purpose flour 32g
  • ½ tbsp cocoa powder 4g
  • tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp baking powder

Cream cheese frosting:

  • 1 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp cream cheese room temperature (15g)
  • 1-2 tablespoons powdered sugar to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a microwave-safe mug (about 10-12 oz), mix milk, vinegar, oil, and vanilla using a whisk or fork.
  • Add red food color and mix until the color is strong red.
  • Sift in flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Add sugar and mix until smooth. Do not overmix.
  • Microwave the mixture on the default setting for 60-90 seconds. (Cooking time may vary; it usually takes 90 seconds.)
  • Let the cake cool for 15 minutes. You can put it in the fridge after 5 minutes to cool faster.
  • While the cake is cooling, mix the cream cheese frosting ingredients with a fork until creamy.
  • Spread the cream cheese frosting on the cake.
  • Serve and enjoy your red velvet mug cake!

Notes

  1. Cooking time may differ depending on the Microwave and the type of mug you use.
  2. It's suggested to start checking for doneness around the 60-second mark to see if there is any wet batter. If there is, cook for an additional 10-20 seconds.
  3. Avoid leaving long gaps between Microwaving as this can lead to the cake deflating and becoming dense in texture.
